Marian & Jone Chung – Wedding {Florence, Tuscany}

When Marian and Jone e-mailed us we could only imagine the Beauty we were going to be a part of..

Here are some pieces of their Love Story:

Marian was born in My Tho, Vietnam. her father was a Vietnam war battalion commander and her mother was a student studying to become a teacher. She has one older sister who is 13 years older than she is & her sister has 4 kids. Marian and her family immigrated to Canada when she was just three years old. She grew up in a little town called Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, B.C. and moved to Vancouver in her late teens so she could attend University.

She has very high expectations for herself, and so far she has been very successful in achieving most of her goals. When she was 19, while attending Simon Fraser University, she decided to take a huge risk & leave to take the Real Estate course at the University of British Columbia. She enjoys real estate so much & even bought her first place when she was just 20. After being a realtor in the greater Fraser Valley region in Vancouver for over 5 years now, she came close to making Medallion, a high honor award for the top Realtors, three times.

Random facts about Marian:

  • She loses things all the time.
  •  Her nick name is Fly.  When she was three that was the first thing she said to her neighbors when they asked for her name.  I call her fly all the time now.
  • She has over 200 pairs of shoes.
  • She is scared of slugs, snails, worms, caterpillars, and snakes.
  • She loves Mcdonalds. She always orders a Big Mac with extra sauce and extra lettuce

 Jone was born & raised in Seattle, Washington and is the youngest of 4 children. I always joke with Jone, calling him a, “gangsta” when he was younger, but he tamed his ways when he was accepted into The University of Washington for Mechanical Engineering ( tuition money adds up, even for a “gangsta!) With that in mind, I am so proud to say that he graduated with “Cum Laude”, a prestigious award for students with a near 4.0 grade point average (I know, he’s a genius! and he continued his studies to receive his Masters degree at UW.Jone now works for Blue Origin as their mechanical engineer, designing rockets for commercial space tourism. Countless people refer to Jone as a, “rocket scientist” but he likes to humbly think of himself as, “just an engineer who does research and development on rockets.” He finds his job exceptionally stressful, but even more rewarding–I always find it so intriguing and surreal to hear about his daily on goings at work.  He promised me on one of our first dates that he would take me to the moon & I plan on holding him true to that promise!

Random facts about Jone:

  • He is afraid of heights
  • He is always thinking of Business ideas
  • He didn’t have cable when we first met and still to this day, doesn’t have it
  • He can make a hamburger patty taste like a fish patty
  • He is a great teacher

Their Proposal:

Jone and I traveled to Spain and Italy in November of 2011 as a gift for our 2 year anniversary, which was November 15. Jone originally planned to propose to me in the Tuscan hill towns but he either forgot the ring or was too nervous. At 5am on the morning of our 2 year anniversary, November 15, 2011, Jone got out of bed and immediately went to his suitcase. He came over to my side of the bed , got down on one knee, said his whole spew, and asked me for my hand in marriage. I said, YES! He was so nervous that he grabbed the wrong hand. It was such a magical moment for the both of us & we can’t wait to go back & get married in the same city where he proposed – Florence, Italy. We’re even going to stay in the same room at the same bed and breakfast where it all happened…
